An aptly named region of Australia the Sunshine Coast offers a beach holiday destination unrivalled anywhere else in the world. Just an hour's drive north of Brisbane sees the start of the Sunshine Coast, with its mix of prime beach front coastline, mountainous backdrop and stunning natural scenery. Whatever your taste in holiday activities from sun worshiping to skydiving the Sunshine Coast will fulfil your dreams. Families enjoy the Sunshine Coast due to the fact that there are convenient family focused attractions spread throughout the area, each offering a subtly different experience for the visitor from white knuckle ride theme parks to working farms.

Sunshine Coast Tours

The Sunshine Coast is about a 75 minute drive north of Brisbane airport. Tour buses depart daily for the region or you can hire a car and drive yourself. If you are in Brisbane contact one of the local tour operators for information about how to get yourself up the Coast.

As you head north towards the Coast take the time to detour off the highway and explore the hinterland. This gorgeous countryside is home to the magnificent Glass House Mountains which you can walk and climb through. The area is dotted with townships such as Maleny which are a delight to explore or you may also want to stop to visit Australia Zoo. Australia Zoo was made famous by its owner Steve Irwin (deceased) who was a passionate wild life warrior and Australia Zoo is one of Australia 's most famous attractions for very good reason.

When you hit the Coast it will be clear to you why this region is called the Sunshine Coast . With stretches of golden beaches from Caloundra to Rainbow Beach how could it be called anything else? The warm climate and the natural elements make this the perfect destination for anyone who enjoys the outdoors from surfers, to bushwalkers. The region is also home to calmer waters such as those at Caloundra's Golden Beach and further north at Noosa. These spots are perfect for all types of watercraft and fishing.

The Sunshine coast is a mix of sleepy seaside spots and cosmopolitan living. If you are looking for a faster pace head to Maroochydore or Noose for beachside restaurants, cafés and shopping while places like Caloundra and Coolum are quieter and more family orientated.

Accommodation will not be a problem here with a range of hostels and accommodation options to suit any budget. Your only decision is where to base yourself.
