Since the great reform of 1978 Shanghai has become an incredibly fascinating place for the visitor. The traditional skyline now exhibits and interesting counterpoint in the form of the modern skyscrapers that have been constructed over the last few decades. Shanghai offers the visitor a comfortable fusion of Eastern and Western styles in everything from its fashion to its cuisine. When it comes to shopping Shanghai is second to none, with several large retail areas on hand supplying everything from freshly caught river fish to designer jewellery. Having recently hosted to 2008 Olympics Shanghai is now gearing up to host the 2010 World Expo.
