The city of the seven hills was the heart of the ancient Roman Empire and is the capital of Italy today. A visitor to Rome will encounter all that is old and modern in one place. Rome is also famous for its fountains including Fontana Aquala Paolo and the Trevin Fountain. 

Rome is also home to the Vatican City, a territory that is independent from Italy. The Vatican City is home to the Pope, the head of the Roman Catholic Church. The Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica are found in the Vatican City along with other religious sites.
