Hobart is the capital of the island state of Tasmania. Its most important geographical feature is the striking Mt Wellington, which stands at over 1,200.metres. The mountain is so big that it has its own ecosystem and has a big effect on the local weather.
Australia oldest synagogue is Hobart Synagogue and Australia’s oldest theatre, Theatre Royal, is also found here. Both make interesting historical sights.
Hobart has some fun, family attractions, like Alpenrail where you can see the model Swiss village and railway. You can also visit the Antarctic Adventure where you can pay a visit to a field camp and see what it’s like to experience sub-zero temperatures, or take a tour of the Cadbury Factory on Cadbury Road.
You won’t be short of places to eat and drink in Hobart. The city has a good selection of restaurants and some lovely laid-back cafes.
