Thaipusam is a Hindu festival, held each year in January or February in many countries including India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia and Mauritius.  The participants of the parade prepare by cleansing and fasting, then are 'adorned' with various shrouds or canopies which include metal spokes, hooks and more piercing their bodies.  You can see the preparations and the amazing thing is that rarely is any blood shed!
