At Smartraveller, the Australian Government's 'travel advisory and consular information service', you can find all of the latest issues, advice and bulletins regarding travel around the world.  It covers a number of subjects, including 'advisories' (warnings), severe weather (cyclones, etc.), health (epidemics, etc.), passports and visas, children's issues, general tips, overseas travel advice and travel insurance.

It also lists contact details worth noting for while you are away.

Click here to check for the country you are thinking of visiting by either country name (A-Z index) or the date of issue of the advice, which is also good to see what has occurred previously.

The site also has downloadable brochures or information links for such things as the FIFA World Cup, Anzac Day in Gallipoli, business travel advice, aviation safety, international scams and much more ... the list goes on!

Other countries' similar government websites which you may wish to visit are the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Foreign Affairs Canada or the US State Department.

It's always worth checking before you book your trip away!
