You would be crazy to visit Noosa and not discover the most magical place to go for a run..the Noosa National Park. This beautiful piece of wilderness is located right in the heart of Noosa, less than 1.5km from Hastings Street. There are several tracks and paths to take through here , with great maps at the entrance to let you know how far and hard the run can be. My favorite is the Tanglewood Track, which is a rainforest cum bush track, with plenty of cool foliage and the odd wildlife crossing the path or in the trees. I run on this path for about 3.5km's and follow all the signs to Hells Gate, which is as far as you can go withoput dropping into the sea, the views are amazing and if you look closely you can see large turtles swimming in the bay, sometimes dolphins playing and even the odd migrating whale!
I usually choose to run back on the coastal path, which hugs the cliff face, and allows stunning sea views and you get to checkout if the surfers are catching any waves along the way. The coastal path gets pretty busy with tourists, joggers and surfers , so it's not a fast run, but an extremely enjoyable one.
If you want to view the park from a differnt angle, you can commence your run from the Sunshine Beach side, with the entrance there being Parkedge Road, once again the maps are good and the paths are wide and suitable for running or walking on. If you are not sure of going in alone, although it is quite safe, even though I have been known to get lost, however, I've always found my way out..the Noosa Council offer a guided power walk through the park every Friday at 6.30am, it costs $2 and it takes about an hour.
