Many cities boast colorful histories and rich cultures, but no history or culture is as grand as that of Florence. Built to opulence by Medici family led by Lorenzo the Magnificent, this illustrious city on the Arno River has produced historical greats like Niccolo Machiavelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Galileo, and most recently, Roberto Cavalli, to name just a few.
Beyond the who's who of residents, however, Florence plays host to some of the grandest artistic displays in history, from structures like the Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio, and the Uffizi, to sculptures like Michaelangelo's David. With such valuable history all around, it's no wonder that the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
Indeed, no other city in the world could surpass the grandeur that is Florence – then, now, and forever.
