Chamonix is already in top ten in the world for being a winter resort, Chamonix is slowly becoming a year round resort with two main tourism seasons: winter and summer. Located in France near the borders with Italy and Switzerland, Chamonix makes a great place for day trips, weekend getaways or longer period of times.

The town offers a wide variety of shops, some themed bars, lots of restaurants that offer traditional French cuisine, Modern cuisine, as well as dishes from countries as close as Italy or Ireland and as far away as China, India or Mexico. As in any other tourist town prices vary from cheap and affordable to pricey. There are several museums to visit in the valley, a Casino in Chamonix and several lifts and cables around the valley to take you skiing or just to let you admire the Alps , the Mont-Blanc and the glaciers. The town offers activities for all ages and all levels. There are ski schools for children and adults, and a lot of other activities available outdoors and indoors.

With several hotels, hostels, chalets, and houses or apartments for rent, accommodation can still be a problem during the peak of the seasons, thus reservations and pre bookings are highly recommended. With no effort at all anyone can have a wonderful vacation in Chamonix and if you have a small child that you are worried about the good news is that apart from the available baby sitters there is a preschool facility where you can book a place for your little one if you wish. Thus the ski resort can be both a family resort and an adult resort.

Chamonix is dominated by the highest peak in the Western Europe , the Aiguilles de Chamonix. People refer to the town itself and the valley by simply saying Chamonix. The valley also consists of quite a few villages out of which the most famous after Chamonix are Servoz, Les Houches, Les Bossons, Les Praz, Les Tines, Argentiere, Montroc , and Le Tour.
