The British Virgin Islands is a group of volcanic coral islands with a population of 19,156 people contained within the 150 square kilometres of land mass. The island is highly dependent on tourism which has made it one of the most financially successful Caribbean islands. 45 percent of the national income is generated through the tourism industry with the remainder of the national income being generated by off shore companies incorporating their business on the island to take advantage of the low taxation levels the island provides.
