If you want a chunk of history, go to Athens. Easily one of the oldest cities in the world, Athens is a living history lesson. Visit the proud ruins of the Parthenon and the Acropolis, take photos of lesser known but no less fascinating remains of Byzantine and Roman monuments, or speed through several millenia of Greek culture at the National Archaeological Museum.

When you've had your fill of architecture and the past, you can take guided tours of the Piraeus, Cape Sounion, and the Temple of Poseidon, slip away to any of the Greek islands, enjoy diverse, multi-layered Greek cuisine at any of Athens' restaurants or charming seaside taverns, sample the dessert wine sweetness of the Mavrodaphne and the Samos, go for a dip or a cruise down the beautiful Aegean, or shop till you drop at Syntagma Sqaure or the Plaka.
